Harborlite® is a thermally expanded perlite widely used in adhesive and sealants to impart weight reduction, improve insulation, mechanical strength and hardness.
The starting perlite is volcanic glass containing water in the particles that expands into steam forcing the expansion of dimensions and the production of lightweight spheroids. The product is used as it is, or after milling in various adhesives, plastisol and sealants. Imerys offers a wide range of Harborlite grades depending on particle size, apparent bulk density, and crush strengths, for lightweighting, mechanical strength and hardness of the finished formulations.
- Clarity enhancement
- Chemical resistance
- Thermal stability
Harborlite® is suited for use in:
- Barrier sealants
- High wear resistance adhesives,
- Silicone RTV sealants
- Preformed gaskets
We offer a full range of custom formulation and technical and process support services to help you match the right mineral grade to your application requirement.
