Perlite microspheres
Imerys perlite microspheres are derived from thermally expanded volcanic rock. They are widely used in adhesive and sealants to impart weight reduction, improve insulation, mechanical strength and hardness.
Perlite is derived from naturally occuring volcanic glass which contains water in the particles that expands into steam to produce a foamed structure comprised of lightweight spheroids. Perlite microspheres can be used as they are - or after milling - in various adhesives, plastisols and sealants where lightweighting is key.
Benefits
- Lightweighting
- Clarity enhancement
- Chemical resistance
- Hardness
- Texturing
- Thermal stability
Perlite microsphere are suited for use in:
- Barrier sealants
- High wear resistance adhesives
- Silicone RTV sealants
- Preformed gaskets
