Household goods Imerys minerals improve the mechanical and optical properties of household appliances and white good plastics
Imerys minerals are your ideal solution for achieving the right mechanical properties, heat resistance and whiteness whilst reducing formulation costs of your household appliance and white good components.
Household appliances
Imerys wollastonite and micas are used to reinforce plastic parts in household appliances such as jug kettles, toasters and irons where they:
- Enhance stiffness and dimensional stability
- Improve temperature resistance
- Lower formulation costs
White goods
Imerys wollastonite and mica give high temperature rigidity to white goods. They are chemically inert and remain stable in contact with active detergents, food remains and other materials that may be present in washing machines, dishwashers, tumble-driers and similar products.
Imerys calcined clays provide excellent opacifying properties, high whiteness and low specific gravity in thermoplastic sheets used for white goods. When used in combination with TiO2, the color and opacity of thermoplastics can be maintained and cost savings achieved.
We recommend the following products for plastic household appliances:
- Nyglos® wollastonite and Suzorite® mica for high temperature rigidity
- Hydrite® SB60 and Hydrite® SB100 calcined kaolin for whiteness and TiO2 extension
- ImerCarb® and Polcarb® calcium carbonates for rigidity, dispersion and high gloss
We offer a full range of custom formulation and technical and process support services to help you match the right mineral grade to your application requirement.
